In early November I had the pleasure of attending the Holland House Cooking Wine live event in Boston. I got to cook with other bloggers and learn all about the bold flavors of Holland House Cooking Wines leading into the holiday season. I’m proud to be teaming up with them for this post. You could smell the sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and brownies (Yes, BROWNIES!) when you walked into the house!
I took off my coat, introduced myself, and instantly felt at home. What a gorgeous day at the Holland House Holiday Live Event. The foliage was on fire, and the Holland House Cooking Wines helped add bold flavors to holiday classics – giving them a new spin. I’m NOT a brownies person, but I am after experiencing them with Holland House Marsala Cooking Wine! YUM.
Holland House Cooking Wines are a wonderful ingredient and addition to your holiday recipes, and your recipes year-round. You can stir in bold flavor to slow cooker dishes, soups, and even desserts – because the flavors hold up in high heat! They’re also wonderful for vegetarian and vegan dishes for your loved ones. What’s not to love? The perfect and easy way to add a bold boost of flavor to a holiday recipe. As you know, the holiday season calls for comfort food and entertaining.
Holland House Cooking Wines come in five versatile, flavor-boosting varieties! There’s Marsala, Sherry, White, Red, and White with Lemon. They all have unique flavor notes, and that BOLD boost of flavor can elevate any dish – whether it’s the holidays, weeknight chicken dinner, Sunday family dinner, or even a zesty gourmet chili to serve many! Here’s more about each one:
Marsala Cooking Wine – This imparts a well-rounded, sweet-wine flavor with hints of hazelnut. It’s a versatile pantry staple and ideal for cooking beef, chicken, and pork. Home chef tip: Add 2 Tbsp to your Beef Stroganoff for flavor!
Sherry Cooking Wine – Sherry offers a mild sherry-wine flavor with hints of nut and caramel. It’s perfect for dessert recipes to balance sweet with a hint of nutty. Home chef tip: Add Sherry to stews, soups, and broths for a nutty and slightly sweet flavor.
Red Cooking Wine – This variety offers a smooth, medium-bodied wine flavor. It’s ideal for cooking heartier dishes like beef, lamb, and pork. Home chef tip: Pour a generous splash into your favorite chili recipe to add more depth of flavor.
White Cooking Wine – White imparts a slightly dry, but distinct wine flavor. It’s perfect for bringing out bold flavors in chicken, seafood, and tasty sauces too. Home chef tip: Sauté vegetables in it for a delicious side dish.
White With Lemon Cooking Wine – White with Lemon brings you a classic white wine flavor with a lemon twist. This pairs well with seafood and is great to use as a marinade!
And there you have it! Five bold flavors. And you can check out more about their amazing flavors on Holland House Cooking Wine’s labels and their website. They have awesome tips, like replacing 1/3 cup of water with Holland House White Cooking Wine when boiling rice. This creates amazing flavor. Or you can add a flavor boost to roasts and other beef and pork favorites. Nothing like imparting rich, robust flavors! And now let’s talk about the recipes! I tried them at the event so you have my word that all three recipes are AWESOME! I even had my hand in making Marsala Whipped Sweet Potatoes. Three Recipes!
I’m pretty sure your Thanksgiving and other holiday dinners just got a lot better:
Before the event, I wouldn’t even consider myself much of a sweet potatoes fan, but something about partnering up with new friends and stirring in those flavors? Now I’m a believer. We used Holland House Marsala Cooking Wine – which gave that well-rounded, sweet-wine flavor. There aren’t a lot of ingredients in this recipe (check it out on the new Holland House website), but just pure flavor. There’s an option to add whipping cream and that’s what I’d do at home without a doubt.
I also wanted to share two other recipes that we cooked. Sherry Triple Berry Cranberry Sauce and Marsala and Dark Chocolate Malted Milk Brownies. Like I said – previously not much of a brownies fan. I’ve been changed. They were SO gooey, but not greasy. They weren’t dry or crumbly. Therefore they were just totally perfect with that hint of Marsala. More holiday recipes to enjoy at Holland House
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the pure joy of connecting with colleagues – some familiar and some not – over really delicious food. I couldn’t get the smile off my face for hours. I think I wore it all weekend too.
And of course, I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m pretty sure we all had a blast. There was a warm and inviting vibe at the event, which meshed perfectly with the warm and inviting brand. Seriously, I’m so excited to knock my family’s socks off with these recipes!
